OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
The mission of WHO’s Health Emergencies Programme is to help countries, and to coordinator international action, to prevent, prepare for, detect, rapidly respond to, and recover from outbreaks and emergencies
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
The incumbent will perform the following duties:
1. Provide Technical insight in preparedness, response and recovery to MOH and partners in emergencies and disasters.
2. Ensure that humanitarian health assistance is in line with international standards and local priorities by building the required capacities at the national level.
3. Liaise with the health partners to ensure that all activities are performed in line with existing strategies and plans and carry out ongoing monitoring and reporting on these activities.
4. Contribute effectively to the implementation of activities for prevention and control of disease outbreaks during and after emergency situations.
5. Conduct regular assessment of health needs for affected population and recommend required strategies.
6. Work closely with MOH and other health stakeholders to ensure that updated information on affected population figures and their health status is readily available.
7. Arrange and compile materials for trainings and other capacity building activities for health personnel in the Mobile clinics and in health facilities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Essential: University degree in medicine, Public Health or related field
Desirable: Sound understanding of emergency response.
Experience
Desirable: Experience in international institutions or NGOs is considered an asset
Skills
- Good Knowledge of health sector activities in developing countries and/or in the context of emergency response relief, or preparedness for epidemic-prone diseases.
- Good Knowledge of rapid response operations and their implementation in emergencies as related to public health.
- Good skills in the assessment, surveillance and monitoring in the context of emergency situations, Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Tact, discretion and ability to promote consensus.
